Year 8 Citizenship
In Citizenship, pupils are given many opportunities to express their views and opinions in ‘real life’ debates, as well as role modelling, news reporting and group work. In Year 8, they will explore immigration, crime and punishment, the rights and responsibilities of a citizen and the role of parliament to engage their learning about the wider world.
There will also be a key focus on the ‘Since 9/11’ module, where pupils investigate how the world has changed since the historical tragedy of 9/11. They will establish how extremism impacts the world around us, building on our morals and understanding of how important it is not to be prejudiced towards those who follow different religious and/or have different opinions.
