Round Midnight Theatre performance
On Monday 20th March, Parkside welcomed back in to school 'Round Midnight' - a Theatre in Education group from Birmingham. They performed an hour-long interactive performance to our Year 6, 7 and 8 pupils, 'Make It Count' - a production that has been devised in collaboration with Parliament's Education Service, to educate young people about Parliament, democracy, active citizenship and British Values.
Pupils were encouraged to speak out and participate in various debates, staged petitions, protesting campaigns and were involved in building a mock House of Commons. We learned about the timeline of Uk's Parliament, modern day politics and local elections and voting. Pupils found the performance engaging and left with considerably more knowledge about democracy within the UK. As always, they commented on how the production was entertaining and loved being able to participate.
